Arsenal vs. Leicester City | Premier League Preview

Arsene Wenger probably still feels the disappointment of not reaching a place in the Top 4 last season. However, he can be happy with the success in The FA Cup and the Community Shield, as in the both finals The Gunners won against the local rivals Chelsea. In addition, The Gunners have now long enough bench and they showed good performances during the pre-season games. They seem to be ready to make a challenge for the Premier League title.

On the other hand, Leicester City again mustn’t be underestimated. The Foxes have kept their key players, which were a part of the historical 2015-16 season, when they won the title. They may be even stronger, because of the arrival of Iborra, Iheanacho and Harry Maguire.

To continue with, The Gunners have always been dominant over The Foxes. Arsenal have recorded 64 victories against 29 in favour of Leicester City. There have also been 44 draws. The Arsene Wenger’s players have won 10 home matches in a row against this opponent. That’s why a home victory seems the most logic outcome.

The key defender Laurent Koscielny is going to miss the match. He is serving a 3-match ban for his red card against Everton on 21st May. Santi Cazorla has still not recovered from his injury, while Alexis Sanchez has also been ruled out of the squad for the first game of the campaign because of an injury. There are also lots of doubtful players, as among them are Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey.

Craig Shakespeare has also lots of problems with injuries. He won’t use Daniel Drinkwater and the German defender Robert Huth. The new signing Vicente Iborra is also injured and will be sidelined. Other 3 players in the squad have a minor problems, but that will probably not affect their participation in the game.

Possible Starting XIs:

Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Petr Cech; Nacho Monreal, Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding, Per Mertesacker; Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny; Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Iwobi, Danny Welbeck; Alexandre Lacazette.

Leicester City (4-4-2): Kasper Schmeichel; Christian Fuchs, Wes Morgan, Harry Maguire, Danny Simpson; Marc Albrighton, Riyad Mahrez, Wilfried Ndidi, Andy King; Jamie Vardy, Islam Slimani.

The squad is bigger than we need. So I expect that some players may leave the club before the end of the transfer window. I am also very happy from our performance in the Community Shield match against Chelsea. Even when we were 1-0 down we didn’t panic and we played really well.Arsene Wenger
